Here is the last crown thaler of Władysław IV.
A very rare issue, struck at the Kraków Mint, which was managed at the time by Gerhard Pyrami (the initials G-P appear on either side of the shield).
This issue is practically never seen on the market, as the Onebid archive clearly shows. It contains a mere 5 listings over the course of nearly 30 years!, and its most recent listing (PDA 21 / 1202) was a sale for 180,000 zlotys!
This specimen is a very attractive, natural-looking coin. It has no unusual flaws or damage. It features the shallow striking and slight metal imperfections characteristic of this year. It has a light patina, with the surface luster well-preserved.
It is an attractive example of Władysław’s thalers from this year—bringing his coinage, focused on large coins, full circle.
Silver, diameter 42 mm, weight 28.47 g.
