Here is one of the real rarities commemorating the process of creating a banknote with Olenka Bilewiczówna.
Acompleted color sample of the green version.
The 1928 10 zloty is a banknote that was never put into circulation. It survived only in the form of pieces from the initial presentation batch or various forms of proof prints showing the way to the final design. Some of these are only preliminary stages (one-sided prints, proof subprints). Finished versions (final acceptances), like this one, are among the great rarities.
This is a color trial in green-red-brown tones (the final tones chosen were blue). Made on proper watermarked paper, in 1:1 scale, trimmed to final size. With the zero numerator placed (A1 0000000). Without the usual design markings (red cross-outs or SPECIMEN perforations).
It should be assumed that banknotes in this form were presented for the final selection of the color version to be realized.
In the archives of Polish companies, we find only two other listings of such completed samples with the A1 0000000 numerator. One in the final color version and one of the brown version (ex. Wojcicki 11, sold for more than 45,000). We see the green version at auction in Poland for the first time.
Also importantly, unlike the above two, this one is the only one not illustrated by Czeslaw Miłczak in his catalog.
Recommended.
