On the upper edge of the reverse an inscription with the name of the portrayed: JOHN HALL.
Intimate portrait of a man in formal attire of the Biedermeier era, with a
characteristic tailcoat with wide lapels and high shirt collar.
The work is maintained in the typical mid-19th century convention of portrait
bourgeois portrait.
