| Signed PIECKO. "I swear, I saw her that night," the man said, his voice sounded like a whisper, as if he was afraid someone might hear. "She was sitting on the edge of the forest, in the moonlight, which seemed to embrace her like a a lover, and at the same time trembled before its glare. Lilith. It had to be her." Her face was pale, almost transparent, as if she herself was made of shadow and light. She did not fully turn to face me, but out of the corner of my eye I noticed something in her gaze - a longing that pierced through and through. It was not longing for a man or God. It was something deeper, older. A longing for something none of us could understand. "She didn't say anything," - he added. - "But I heard her voice in my head. Not words, rather feelings. Pain, loneliness, pride. Unearthly feelings that seemed to come from a time when the world was just waking up." Stories about Lilith have been heard by everyone - the first woman to reject submission and paid for it with exile. Running away from Adam, she condemned herself to loneliness and a curse. Everyone repeated that she was a monster, a sinister creature stealing children and tempting men. But he saw something more. There was not only ferocity in her eyes, but also sadness. It was as if centuries of of loneliness had filled her with a grief that even her hatred could not suppress. "There was something else." - He continued, lifting his gaze, as if afraid of his own memories. "There was a smile lurking on her face. Not full of joy, but... dark satisfaction. As if she knew she had paid a high price for her freedom, but she never regretted it." Lilith disappeared as suddenly as she had appeared. She left no trace, except for the memory that now choked him in the chest. Was she real? Or was she merely a dreamy nightmare brought on by the foggy night? "What I know," - he said at the end - "is that when you see her, you begin to understand what it means to pay any price to be yourself. And suddenly the world becomes much darker, though for some it's brighter, than it ever was." "Angelology" |
