Massive sommerso uranium glass bowl from the Andromeda collection, designed by Jaroslav Beránek for Škrdlovice Glassworks in the 1950s. Width is 43cm. Excellent vintage condition, no chips or cracks.
This exceptional mid-century bowl, created by master glass designer Jaroslav Beránek, belongs to the Andromeda collection produced in Škrdlovice around 1955. Made using the sommerso technique, it combines layered uranium glass with thick crystal casing, creating striking optical depth and vibrant green glow under UV light.
The bowl’s substantial weight and sculptural form exemplify the bold aesthetics of 1960s Czechoslovakian glassmaking. As both a decorative centerpiece and a historical collectible, it reflects the pioneering artistry of Škrdlovice’s early postwar production. Rare, powerful, and highly desirable among collectors of Bohemian uranium glass.
