Here is the rarest denomination of Duchy banknotes. The most difficult to obtain without a stamp.
Its rarity today is the result of the work of the Central Liquidation Commission of the Kingdom of Poland. This body, established in 1824, was responsible, among other things, for the withdrawal of the Principality's banknotes from circulation and, as Mariusz Kozlowski mentions in their monograph, did so very effectively. Almost 95% of banknotes were withdrawn from circulation. And among the 5% remaining in circulation, naturally, the ones with the highest purchasing power - precisely the five-dollar notes - remained the least.
This is confirmed by the above-mentioned study. The author noted the existence of only 13 pieces of five-dollar notes without a stamp (in comparison, two-dollar notes were described by 46). There are still signatures in this denomination, for which no unstamped pieces are currently known.
For this variety, with the signature of Commissioner Stanislaw Ossolinski, this is only the third known piece.
