Distillery description
Glenfiddich is one of the most renowned and successful Scottish distilleries, located in the Speyside region near Dufftown. Founded in 1887 by William Grant, who built the distillery with his family, Glenfiddich translates to "valley of the deer" in Gaelic, a name reflected in the brand's logo. Still owned by the Grant family, Glenfiddich is one of the few distilleries to remain in the hands of its original family for over a century. It was among the first to promote single malt whisky as a distinct category, choosing to focus on pure single malts at a time when most distilleries produced whisky primarily for blends. This innovative approach has positioned Glenfiddich as a leader in the global market. The whisky is characterized by typical notes of apple and pear. Thanks to its quality and creativity, Glenfiddich ranks among the best-selling single malt whiskies worldwide, with products exported to over 180 countries, solidifying its status as one of Scotland's largest and most successful distilleries.
