Distillery description
Springbank is an iconic Scotch distillery located in Campbeltown, founded in 1828 by the Mitchell family, who still own it today. This makes Springbank one of the few Scotch distilleries still in the hands of its original founders. Springbank is renowned for its unique approach to whisky production, as it carries out the entire process on-site-from malting to distillation to bottling. This comprehensive control over production ensures that Springbank whisky has a distinctive character. The distillery produces three main types of whisky: Springbank - A lightly peated whisky, distilled 2.5 times, offering a complex profile with subtle hints of smoke. Longrow - A heavily peated, double-distilled whisky with a pronounced smoky profile, reminiscent of Islay whiskies. Hazelburn - An unpeated, triple-distilled whisky characterized by a subtle, sweeter profile. Due to its authenticity and unmistakable character, Springbank whiskies are highly sought after by both connoisseurs and collectors, making them increasingly difficult to find in recent years.
