Distillery description
Strathisla is a Scottish distillery located in the Speyside region, specifically in the town of Keith. Founded in 1786 under the name Milltown, it is one of the oldest continuously operating distilleries in Scotland. The distillery was renamed Strathisla in 1870, after the nearby River Isla, which provides water for whisky production. Strathisla is renowned for its smooth, sweet, and fruity whisky, characterized by a rich flavor that benefits from longer aging. Its whisky plays a crucial role in Chivas Regal blended whisky, with Strathisla considered its heart. In 1950, the distillery was acquired by Chivas Brothers, now part of Pernod Ricard, and has remained a key component of their portfolio ever since. While much of its production is used in blended whisky, Strathisla also offers its whisky in limited quantities as a single malt and is available in independent bottlings. Bottle description
