Henryk Rauchinger studied under Jan Matejko at the School of Fine Arts in Cracow from 1878 to 1879, and then in Vienna under August Eisenmenger and Christian Griepenkerl. He supplemented his education in Rome. He lived permanently in Vienna, where he exhibited extensively; from 1899 as a member of the Artists' Association there. In 1883-1899 he also exhibited at the TPSP in Cracow, and in 1894 he took part in an exhibition of Polish art in Lviv. He painted historical scenes and portraits, for which he was particularly praised.
