The artist depicts the biblical character Salome close-up, against a dark background. She has long brown hair and her light, naked body is dressed only in a brown and blue cloth around her waist. In his raised right hand he holds John's large bearded head by the hair. Light falls from the left from an unknown source onto her upper body and face with flushed cheeks. Dark, serious-looking eyes peering out of the image remain in shadow.
