AUTONE
(real name: Jan Kołodziej)
One of the most original representatives of the urban art movement; active as a graffiti artist since 1998, he quickly developed his style into abstract graffiti, post-graffiti, and graffuturism. His distinctive, geometric compositions are inspired by the city as an urban structure, light, and electronic music. When creating in public spaces, he improvises, striving to adapt to his surroundings and make use of the spatial context of a given location. He focuses primarily on outdoor projects, undertaking studio projects less frequently.
His body of work includes numerous spatial installations and land art pieces (including the “Accents” project). In 2013, he took first place at the Sopot Fringe Festival with his land art installation “Aalga.”
He was also featured in the 2011 publication “Graffiti in Poland 1940–2010” by Tomasz Sikorski and Marcin Rutkiewicz.
He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk University of Technology (with a degree in urban planning in 2009). As an employee of the City Aesthetics Department at the Gdańsk City Hall, he initiated the “Project to Add Artistic Decorations to the Facades of Tenement Houses in Gdańsk’s Main Town,” and also designed and executed the decorations for several of them. He also gained experience in the fields of urban planning, architecture, and landscape architecture; he currently creates large-scale murals professionally (including the largest mural in Poland—Łowicz, 2023).
From 2015 to 2018, he lived and worked in London, where he completed numerous paintings
from the “Postcartography” series on the streets of Brixton, Camden Town, Croydon, Dalston, Hackney, Hoxton, Penge, and Shoreditch, among others. He participated in Magda Danysz’s “The London Project” (2015) and collaborated with, among others, the international agency Global Street Art. The colorful mural “Pride Matters,” created in 2020 in collaboration with Neist and part of the largest mural in the United Kingdom, has become a major landmark on London’s street art map and has been included in the digital collections of Art UK, among others.
In 2020, together with Proembrion, he created one of the longest murals in Poland, “Horizons in Motion,” covering an area of over 1,200 m², located in Bydgoszcz on the retaining walls of a new tram line. Inspired by music and the topography of the area, the project was an attempt to animate a painterly composition that could only be viewed in motion.
He is the creator of large-format murals painted in abandoned locations. He has created works in Cyprus, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, as well as in the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Spain, North Macedonia, Morocco, Mexico, Germany, Sweden, and Ukraine.
His works have been featured in solo exhibitions, including “100%/11” (Sopot, 2011), “CUTS” (Poznań, 2011), “Lay//ers” (Sopot, 2014), “Decorrugated” (Gdańsk, 2021), “132B” (Gdynia, 2021), and “0-22 20-25” (Warsaw, 2025). He has participated in group exhibitions in Berlin, Bologna, Gdańsk, Gdynia, Glasgow, Lublin, London, Łódź, Minsk, Paris, Prague, San Francisco, Stockholm, and Warsaw, among other cities.
