Lot description
The apothecary jar from the 18th century is made of earthenware and decorated with hand-painted blue decor on a white background. The inscription "GERASPTE RAPPE" probably refers to crushed or grated plants or herbs that were used in pharmacies to prepare medicinal mixtures. The decoration of the container is typical for faience production of the time, with a focus on floral and ornamental motifs. The shape of the container is typically bulbous, which allowed for the storage of a larger amount of raw materials, and its elegant decoration made it a decorative element of the pharmacy interior. This container is a beautiful example of baroque pharmacy design, combining functionality and aesthetics.more photos
