Decorative tafelaufsatz (centerpiece) designed by Michael Slow - one of the most important representatives of Viennese Art Nouveau and the Wiener Werkstätte milieu.
The form of an oval bowl supported by four kneeling putti is a characteristic example of the synthetic, sculptural treatment of the solid, typical of Powolny's work around 1910. The design combines a decorative element with functionality, in keeping with the aesthetics of the Viennese reform of applied art of the early 20th century.
The model known from the literature (WV 129), made by Vereinigte Wiener und Gmundner Keramik, is among the artist's most recognizable designs.
Piece in a uniform, bright glaze.
