One of the most prominent Silesian photographers. Member of the Union of Polish Artists Photographers from 1975 to 2011. President of the Silesian District of the Union of Polish Art Photographers in 1988-1992. Initiator of the project of conservation and photographic documentation of the artistic achievements of ZPAF members. Participant in more than eighty international nationwide exhibitions of fine art photography. Awarded many medals and honors. Organizer of exhibitions, author of texts for catalogs and commentaries of photographic works. Since 2005, co-executive producer with Janusz Musial of documentary films about photographic artists that make up the Lexicon of Silesian Photography. Fascination with the industrial landscape of Silesia, combining in collages "photographs - traces" of human activity of the land of coal and steel are constant wanderings of Andrzej Koniakowski, who created a distinctive style drawing also from the constructivism of Alexander Rodchenko. For his outstanding work enriching the values of the culture of the region and the country, he was awarded the Karol Miarka Prize in 2005 and Meritorious for Polish Culture in 2007.
