1926 Szopienice- 1979 Falls ChurchPainter, graphic artist and stage designer. During the occupation he worked as a carpenter in a steel mill, learning drawing there. He then continued his artistic education at the High School of Fine Arts and the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, which he did not complete, discouraged by the prevailing socialist realism at the university. He was a member and co-founder of the avant-garde St-53 Group. Since 1956, he was a member of the ZPAP Participated in avant-garde exhibitions and events of the 1950s and 1960s: the Arsenal, the 1st Plein Air in Osieki (1963), the 1st Biennale of Spatial Forms in Elblag (1965), exhibitions of the Crooked Circle Gallery and the Salon of Modernity. He became an important figure influencing the shape of modern Polish art. He designed the graphic design of such magazines as: "Po prostu" and "Ruch Muzyczny". In 1968, he and his wife first left for Germany (Munich; his wife worked at Radio Free Europe) and then for the United States (Washington). Thus, his work was doomed to official obscurity, and the contents of the studio he left behind in the country were dispersed and destroyed. In exile, he continued his artistic activity - he took part in group and individual exhibitions, being a well-known figure in the Polish émigré community. In 1997, the National Museum in Warsaw organized an exhibition of the artist's work presented in Warsaw's Zachęta Gallery, the Silesian Museum in Katowice and Krakow's Bunkier Sztuki.
