Biography
Born in 1924 in Krosno on the Wislok River, studied painting at the Wroclaw State Higher School of Fine Arts from 1946-51. In the late 1950s, he co-founded the Form and Color Function Group, and was also a member of the so-called Wroclaw School, whose work was characterized by structural painting. In the 1960s, Chwalczyk became interested in optics and light; hence his "three-dimensional" painting, in which he combines light, color and form.
