Marian Chmielecki (1935–2022) graduated from the High School of Fine Arts in Jarosław and then from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, where he studied under Prof. Roman Modzelewski. In the 1960s, he was involved in the design of industrial textiles, and from 1975 onward, he worked in Racibórz, organizing and running the Art Exhibition Office. He was a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers from 1965.
The artist participated in numerous national and international exhibitions. His works are held in museum collections, galleries, and private collections in Poland and abroad. For his artistic achievements, he was awarded, among other honors, the Silver Cross of Merit and the “Distinguished Cultural Activist” badge. In 2010, he received the honorary Mieszko statuette for his lifetime artistic achievement.
Marian Chmielecki’s work primarily features atmospheric city alleys, landscapes, and compositions inspired by his travels, in which color and the ability to capture the atmosphere of a place play a particularly important role.
