Stanisław Jan Łazorek (Aksamanice 1938 – 2000 Warsaw) – a landscape painter associated with Kazimierz Dolny. In 1958, he began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where he studied under Stanisław Szczepański. He received his diploma in 1964. He was a landscape painter who created views, landscapes, prints, and drawings. During his studies, he designed sets for plays staged by the student theater. As he himself stated, from the early 1970s onward, he began to visit Kazimierz Dolny frequently and eventually bought a house there. Kazimierz Dolny was practically the sole subject of Stanisław Łazorek’s paintings; he painted several thousand of them. He sold most of them, but a few became additional pieces in his own collection. He had a distinctive style, sometimes idealizing the image of the town; his paintings were characterized by bright colors, pastel tones, and a cheerful, romantic atmosphere. He was disabled, which is why he painted using only his right hand. Although he lived in Warsaw on a daily basis, he spent every free moment in Kazimierz Dolny. He lived and worked there, and also maintained close ties with other artists from Kazimierz Dolny. Together with them, he exhibited some of his paintings at the local gallery on the market square. Stanisław Łazorek’s work has been featured numerous times in exhibitions both in Poland and abroad.
