Biography
Teresa Bigos was born in Ciężkowice, where she still lives and creates. She has been interested in fine art since childhood, but she did not take up her passion seriously until adulthood. As a self-taught artist, she watched her colleagues at plein-air painting events to hone her craft. She is engaged in oil painting, mainly using the oil-on-canvas technique. Initially, the paintings mainly depicted fantasy scenes, daydreams, erotic shots of various scenes. The paintings featured elves, nymphs, completely unreal characters. Later, the paintings were created mainly from observations of the surrounding nature, places and people. Ms. Teresa admits that she most enjoys painting landscapes and flowers, which she has a lot of in her garden.
She has been going to plein air paintings since 1985, and has taken part in the Polish Countryside Art Conferences organized for the past 10 years by Scena Ludowa Kraków. She has had solo exhibitions in Warsaw, Krakow, Wisła, Szypliszki near Augustów and in Zakopane at the Władysław Hasior Gallery. She presented her works three times in Dabrowa Tarnowska and in the library in Ciężkowice. She has also taken part in numerous group exhibitions after plein-air. She participated in thematic competitions in painting. She won third prize in 1986 in the Biennale of Unprofessional Art in Skawina and an honorable mention in the competition for folk art in Bydgoszcz.
