Jan Pruski (born 1957) Has been living and working in Olsztyn for years. He is an extremely diverse artist who creates paintings, prints, sculptures and installations using many (usually his own) techniques. His portfolio includes many solo and group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally, and his works are in many private collections at home and abroad.
The artist says this about the creative act: "creating is almost a physiological activity for me, it stirs up inside me and I have to bring these emotions out into the open, the search is the most essential element for me, the paper technique, the technique of scratching on film, offset paint, rags, glue, it's all the result of socialist poverty in Poland in the years when I started painting, I was 16 years old, it was the 70s, I was not privileged, I had no paints. Later it became my calling card, these works made with paper technique on fiberboard, scratched paintings on old film, sculptures made of wires. My motto was from minimum materials to maximum art. Now that my studio is cluttered with endless paints I still work with paper and the same motto. From painting to painting."
