Stefan Suberlak (Piotrowice Śląskie 1928- 1994 Katowice) - painter, graphic artist, associated with the Silesian artistic community. Born in 1928, from 1948 he studied at the Katowice Branch of the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wroclaw. In 1952, he received a diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow at the Department of Graphic Arts in Katowice, in the studio of Aleksander Rak. Since 1964 he held the title of honorary member of the Accademia Fiorentina delle Arti del Disegno in Florence. Member of the "Realists" group. He practiced printmaking, including lithography, linocut, woodcut, as well as drawing, book illustration, painting. His works are in many Polish museums as well as collections abroad, including the Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, the National Museums in Gdansk, Kielce, Krakow, Szczecin, Warsaw and Wroclaw, as well as the Silesian Museum in Katowice, among others. Winner of many awards and prizes, he has participated in more than 30 solo exhibitions at home and abroad.
