Biography
He received his diploma in 1955 from the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Łódź. He remained connected to the Łódź art community, both through the State Higher School of Film (1955–1977) as well as the present-day Academy of Fine Arts, where he headed the Photography Studio at the Department of Graphic Arts. The artist works in various media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, and photography. In the 1950s, he was associated with the “Piąte Koło” group, and later with “Nowa Linia.” In the 1960s, he frequently exhibited his works at “Krzywe Koło” in Warsaw, one of the most prominent galleries of the time. He coined the term “Hotel Sztuki,” which, thanks to him, came to be used in the 1970s to describe the concept of independent exhibition activity previously formulated by Andrzej Paruzel.
