On a dark background is a half-length portrait of a man with highly realistic treatments, and in typical seventeenth-century clothes. The peculiarity of the character is in his gaze; a bit frowning, looking out from the canvas and with his pointed beard cut. Due to the physiognomic similarity, it is possible that he could be Willem Usselincx (1567-1647), a Flemish merchant who founded the Dutch West India Company.
