Biography
The artist’s date of birth is not entirely certain. Some sources cite 1890 instead of 1878. Erb lived and worked in Lviv his entire life. He also spent some time in Truskavets. He was self-taught. He mainly painted oil compositions with a rich, impasto texture. The artist’s favorite subjects were genre scenes from city life: market women selling flowers, types of Ukrainian peasants, portraits of Jews, and still lifes.
