Lot information
The painting Landscape with a Bush from 1897 represents a mature example of Stanislav Lolek's early work. The composition follows a simple horizontal axis of the landscape with scattered greenery and a central bush, whose dark silhouette contrasts with the finely modeled sky in chiaroscuro.Lolek works sensitively with the mood of the landscape at the border between day and evening, when the colors recede and cold, misty tones dominate. The painting has a calm and meditative effect, and in its construction one can perceive a similarity with the work of František Kaván from the turn of the century, when Kavan also captured the melancholic positions of the Czech landscape without idealization, but with a deep inner experience.
