Painter and graphic artist, Young Poland landscape painter. Secretary of the Civic Committee for the Care of Polish Refugees in Hungary Placówka "W"-representation of the Polish Government in Exile. In 1900-1908 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow with Jozef Mehoffer, Leon Wyczółkowski, Jozef Pankiewicz and Jan Stanislawski, who had a strong influence on his work. He was considered one of the most prominent representatives of the "Stanislavski school." He debuted in 1899 with a series of Tatra landscapes exhibited at the Society of Friends of Fine Arts. In 1905 he became a member of the Vienna "Secession". From 1908 he was a member of the Society of Polish Artists Art. In 1913-1914 he taught a course in decorative painting at the Industrial School in Cracow. In 1914-1917 he served in the Legions. In 1929 he received a gold medal at the General National Exhibition in Poznań. Since 1930 he taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. In 1933 he was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences. During World War II, he participated in the resistance movement and underground activities. He was Secretary of the Civic Committee for the Care of Polish Refugees in Hungary and of the "W" Post in Budapest - the representative office of the Polish Government in Exile. Arrested by the Gestapo in 1944, he was sent to the Mauthausen-Gusen camp, where he was murdered.
