A pre-war coffee or tea pot from Józef Fraget’s Warsaw workshop. A classic design featuring a tall, curved spout, a contoured handle, and a lid. The base bears the original signature “FRAGET MB PLAQUÉ” and the historic engraving “Warszawianka.”
An antique pot from the first half of the 20th century, produced at the renowned Józef Fraget factory in Warsaw.
Made of silver-plated white metal, it features a cylindrical body, a tall, characteristically curved spout, and a decorative handle. The lid is topped with a small spherical knob.
The bottom bears the factory mark FRAGET MB PLAQUÉ, the markings 1515/4 and 56, and the engraved inscription “Warszawianka.”
This name represents an interesting historical reference. In pre-war Warsaw, there was a restaurant called Café Varsovie at 5 Nowy Świat Street, popularly known as “Warszawianka.” It is possible that this jug was part of the restaurant’s furnishings, though this attribution requires further confirmation.
Height: approx. 11 cm.
Condition: noticeable wear on the silver plating, localized dents, discoloration, patina, and scratches resulting from many years of use.
An interesting example of Warsaw’s silver-plating craftsmanship, particularly attractive due to its original mark and historical engraving.
