Maciej Ignaciuk, Interstellar

Painting / acrylic on canvas, 2024
140 x 100cm

The painting depicts a young woman in semi-profile, immersed in reverie, with her eyes closed, as if she is taking a journey into herself or towards the unknown. Against an intense yellow background emerges a dark circle symbolizing a black hole, which emphasizes the idea of exploration of space and infinity. The woman, wearing a light-colored coat and carrying a backpack decorated with a floral motif, combines the everyday with the mystery of traveling beyond the limits of known reality. The backpack seems to suggest a readiness to wander - both physically and metaphorically. The contrast between the yellow of the background and the black of the circle adds depth and drama to the composition.
