Color woodcut, size: 820 x 515 mm; signed in pencil p. d.: Lutomski Z 1977 imp. From the artist.
Lutomski (b. 1934 in Grodno) was not only an outstanding printmaker, but also a long-time educator and organizer of artistic life (among other things, associated with the woodcut studio and the Biennale/Triennale of Graphics in Cracow).
The record is one of the important graphics by Zbigniew Lutomski from the mature period of the 1970s, when the artist consistently developed his own language of color woodcut: formally economical, yet dense with organic and "anatomical" associations. The layout of the work is aptly captured as an abstract biomorphic form, with a clear tension between soft mass and sharper, geometrizing interventions.
