This richly carved table is a magnificent example of Italian furniture from the late Baroque or early Neoclassical period. The table is distinguished by its intricate carving and sculptural form. The two large front legs are masterfully carved with figural supports, possibly depicting mythical creatures or grotesques, which give the piece a powerful, almost architectural presence.
The front apron is also elaborately carved with a central grotesque mask flanked by scrolling foliage. The top is a single plank of wood, displaying the rich grain of the walnut. Carved walnut 82 x 170 x 89 cm.
