From the introduction: "This booklet is not intended to agitate in favor of military aviation, it does not contain alarming comparisons of our own aviation with that of our enemies or allies; nor will the reader find in it fantastic descriptions of future air and gas armies' battles, possible in fact, but in times yet distant. The present day is so rich in the experience of past wars, the tasks posed to us by these experiences are so enormous that for the time being there is enough for the work of results quite real, and so difficult in our conditions to achieve. I intend only to set forth in an accessible form the principles of the use of one of the latest means ofwarfare - aviation, which will reliably be used by any nation forced to fight."
