Seweryn Goszczyński (1801–1876) was a Polish Romantic poet, journalist, and independence activist. He took part in the November Uprising, and after its defeat, he lived in exile in France. He was among the most important figures of Polish Romanticism. He is known, among other things, for his poem *The Castle of Kaniów*. In his work, he addressed patriotic, folk, and mystical themes.
The book contains a collection of letters by Seweryn Goszczyński from the years 1823–1875. The correspondence reveals the poet’s private life, his patriotic activities, and his contacts with other artists and activists of the Romantic era. The letters are a valuable source of information about Polish emigration following the November Uprising, 19th-century literary life, and the author’s views on national, social, and religious matters.
