The Divine History and Life of the Most Holy Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ, Our Queen and Lady, who redeems the sin of Eve and restores grace, revealed in recent centuries by the same Lady, to her servant, the Venerable Mary of Jesus, a nun of the Convent of the Immaculate Conception in the city of Ágreda, in the province of Burgos, of the Regular Observance of the Seraphic Father Saint Francis, for the new light of the Catholic Church, the joy of the world, and the confidence of the people—first translated from Spanish, French, and Italian into Latin, now translated into Polish and sent to press, through the work and efforts of Rev. Stephen of St. Adalbert (Staniewski) of the Pious Scholars, rector of the Kraków college. With the permission and approval of the authorities, the life of the aforementioned Reverend Xienia and her public protest—in which she makes her position clear to all, submitting it to the judgment of the whole world—are appended.

A comprehensive work by the Spanish mystic and Franciscan nun María de Ágreda (1602–1665), depicting the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary—from the Immaculate Conception and her childhood, through her Divine Motherhood, to the Assumption—as seen through the author’s mystical revelations. The work combines an elaborate narrative of Mary’s life with theological and spiritual reflections, placing particular emphasis on her role in the history of salvation. The Polish translation was done by the Piarist Stefan of St. Adalbert Staniewski (1671–1737).
