Robert Capa: Slightly out of focus. [Kissé elmósodva. Emlékeim a háborúból.] A szerző, fotóművész, fotóriporter Robert Capa (1913-1954) által Virgina Mondadorinak, Albert Mondadori feleségének DEDIKÁLT példány! Első kiadás! Alberto Mondadori (1914-1976) olasz könyvkiadó és szerkesztő a híres Arnoldo Mondadori Editore kiadóalapító fia volt. New York, 1947. Henry Holt and Co., 243 p. 1. kiadás. Oldalszámozáson belül Robert Capa fekete-fehér fotóival gazdagon illusztrált. Magyar aukción még NEM szerepelt Capa dedikáció! Robert Capa (1913-1954). Eredeti nevén Friedmann Endre zsidó származású magyar-amerikai fotográfus, fotóriporter. A Magnum Photos egyik alapítója. A harmincas években több ismert lapnak is dolgozott (Dephot, Vu, Berliner Illustrierte Zeitung.) A Regards c. lap szerkesztője, Aranyossy Pál felkérésére indul a spanyol polgárháborúba tudósítani. (1936.) A kitörő második világháborúban is haditudósítóként tevékenykedett. Leghíresebb képsorozatát is így készítette, a Normandia partraszállásról. A világháborús élményeit "Slightly out of focus" címmel írta meg végül, amit híres "kissé életlen" képei inspiráltak. A Slightly Out of Focus című műve 1947-ben jelent meg, és egyik legfontosabb saját kiadású fotókönyve. A Ryan közlegény megmentése c. Oscar-díjas filmet is ezek a fotók inspirálták. újságja hasábjain közölte a Magnum Photos képeit. A Mondadori név a 20. századi európai könyvkiadás történetének egyik meghatározó neve. A SIGNED COPY inscribed by the author, photographer and photojournalist Robert Capa (1913-1954) to Virginia Mondadori, wife of Alberto Mondadori! First edition! Alberto Mondadori (1914-1976), the Italian publisher and editor, was the son of Arnoldo Mondadori, founder of the renowned publishing house Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. New York, 1947. Henry Holt and Co., 243 p. First edition. Illustrated with Robert Capa's black-and-white photographs. Robert Capa (1913-1954), born Endre Friedmann, was a Hungarian-American photographer and photojournalist of Jewish descent. He was one of the founders of Magnum Photos. He originally studied journalism. Influenced by Éva Besnyő and György Kepes, he turned towards photography; Kepes gave him his first camera. In 1931, he moved to Berlin to study journalism. It was there, in Berlin, that he learned photography and acquired the fundamentals of the profession. The political climate of 1930s Berlin and Budapest was not particularly favorable to a young photographer, so in 1933 he moved his base to Paris. During the 1930s, he worked for several prominent publications, including Dephot, Vu, and Berliner Illustrierte Zeitung. At the invitation of Pál Aranyossy, editor of the magazine Regards, he went to Spain to report on the Spanish Civil War in 1936. The photograph he took there, The Death of a Loyalist Soldier, made him world-famous. That same year, he changed his name, seeking a more commercially marketable, "American-sounding" name. Thus, his childhood nickname, Cápa ("shark"), became the name of one of the world's most famous photographers: Robert Capa. In 1939, he decided to move to the United States, although he did not obtain American citizenship until after the Second World War. When the war broke out, despite not being an American citizen, he succeeded in obtaining accreditation with the U.S. Army. He worked as a war correspondent throughout the Second World War. His most famous photographic series was made during the Normandy landings. He eventually recorded his wartime experiences in Slightly Out of Focus, a title inspired by his famous "slightly out of focus" photographs. Capa's Slightly Out of Focus was published in 1947 and is one of his most important photographic books. The volume combines Capa's wartime photographs with his own text and personal stories, making it a work of both photographic-historical and autobiographical importance. The photographs also inspired the Academy Award-winning film Saving Private Ryan. After the war, in 1947, Magnum Photos was founded at Capa's initiative. Its founding members were Robert Capa, David "Chim" Seymour, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger, and William Vandivert. The agency is believed to have been named after a magnum bottle of champagne. Among other publications, Alberto Mondadori published photographs by Magnum Photos in the pages of Epoca. The Mondadori name is one of the most significant names in the history of 20th-century European publishing. For this reason, the dedication should not be regarded merely as a personal inscription, but as a copy documenting a connection between Capa and the Mondadori family's cultural and publishing circle. In 1954, at the invitation of Life magazine, Capa travelled to Indochina to report on the bloody war of independence taking place there. He was ultimately killed by a landmine. His fearless philosophy is well captured by one of his most famous aphorisms: "If your pictures aren't good enough, you're not close enough." Our copy was also exhibited at the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center. The relevant certificates are included with the lot. Publisher's original half-cloth binding, with a newly produced paper dust jacket intended to protect the book. This is not a replacement for the original dust jacket, which is also included with the book in its damaged original condition.
