Distillery description
Michter's is an iconic American distillery with roots dating back to 1753, making it one of the oldest in the U.S. The original distillery was founded in Pennsylvania by John Shenk and was initially known as Shenk's. In 1861, it was taken over by Abraham Bomberger and renamed Bomberger's. Later, it became known as Michter's, a blend of the names Michael and Peter, the sons of the then-owner. Throughout its history, Michter's experienced several closures, the last being in 1989 due to financial issues. The brand was revived in the 1990s by Joseph J. Magliocco, who relocated the distillery to Kentucky, a prime location for bourbon production. Today, Michter's focuses on crafting premium whiskeys, including bourbon, rye, and American whiskey. Some of the brand's most popular products include Michter's US1 Bourbon, US1 Rye, and the sought-after Michter's 20 Year Old. Michter's is now considered a top-tier brand in the American whiskey market, beloved by connoisseurs and collectors alike. Bottle description
