Distillery
Ben Nevis is a Scottish distillery in the Highlands, near Fort William, founded in 1825 by John Macdonald. The name refers to the highest mountain in Scotland. Ripe fruit notes, oiliness and complexity are typical for whiskey. The distillery was closed several times during the 20th century (1978-1981, 1984-1989). In 1989, it was bought by the Nikka company, which uses the distillate for its whiskey. The basic line consists of Ben Nevis 10 Year Old and various bottlings without age indication, also available from independent bottling companies.
