Czech sommerso art glass bowl designed by Jaroslav Beránek for Škrdlovice Glassworks in 1955. Pattern number: 5546. Width is 21x14cm. Minor signs of use.
This early Škrdlovice bowl exemplifies the sommerso technique, where layers of contrasting glass colors are encased within thick crystal-clear glass. Designed in 1955 by Jaroslav Beránek, one of the founding figures of the Škrdlovice glassworks, it reflects the beginnings of the innovative artistic direction that later defined Czechoslovakian mid-century glass.
The bowl’s heavy, sculptural presence and subtle color play highlight the precision and artistry of hand-shaped hot glass. A rare collectible for enthusiasts of Bohemian sommerso glass and an outstanding early example of Jaroslav Beránek’s influential work.
