Piece from the book collection of Leon Stanislaw Leszczynski.
Leon Stanislaw Leszczynski coat of arms Wieniawa [18.III.1894-23.12.1967] - an outstanding educator, museologist and steadfast independence and regional activist. Already in his youth he was associated with scouting and schooling in Kęty, and played a key role during the plebiscite period in Upper Silesia, directing, among other things, the structures of the plebiscite committee in Dziergowice. In the interwar period, he became one of the most important figures in the social life of Pszczyna as director of the Pszczyna Teachers' Seminary, editor of the Pszczyna Land Review and a staunch opponent of Nazi organizations. Sentenced to death by the occupying forces for his attitude, he survived the war by conducting secret teaching and acting in the resistance movement in Ochotnica. After 1945, he returned to Pszczyna, where he rescued cultural property with great dedication and for nearly a decade headed the local Museum Center, significantly enriching its resources. Repeatedly decorated for civilian and military merits, including the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Silesian Cross of the Uprising, he went down in history as a charismatic custodian of the memory and heritage of the Pszczyna land.
