A group photograph of Prussian soldiers, taken in the early 20th century. The soldiers are posing in uniforms with peaked caps; some of them are carrying sabers. In the early 20th century, Toruń was one of the most important and largest border fortresses of the German Empire (known as Festung Thorn). Prussian soldiers were a constant and highly distinctive feature of the city’s landscape and daily life.
