Biography
Art historian, painter, draftsman, creator of art installations, essayist, and writer. In 1970, she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She completed her studies in painting and art history in Kraków. Co-founder of the Śmietanka group and the O poprawę movement. Her most famous works are drawings on cotton and silk scarves, which, when hung and draped by the artist in various locations, create unique installations. For several years now, the artist has also been weaving fragments of text—often taken from her own prose—into her drawings, emphasizing the unity of all her projects: academic, literary, and visual. The artist’s prose output consists of two innovative novels: *The 21st Century* (written in English, published in Poland in 1995) and *Grand Hotel Oriental*.
