On 17 September 1992, in Ustica, he regained the world record for freediving in constant weight with -70 metres.
On 11 October 1993, near Montecristo, descending to -123 meters he set a new record in no limits variable weight.
On 24 July 1994, in Cala Gonone-Dorgali, Sardinia, at -101 metres, Pelizzari conquered the new world record for freediving in regulated variable weight.
In July 1995, in Villasimius in Sardinia, two more new world records: -72 meters in constant weight and -105 meters in regulated variable weight.
In 1996, again in Villasimius, with -110 meters he regained the records in the variable weight and with -131 meters in the no limits variable weight.
On 13 September 1997, in Porto Venere in Liguria, he regained the constant weight record with a depth of -75 metres.
On September 20, descending to -115 meters, he regained the record in variable weight.
On 18 October 1999 off the coast of Portofino, Umberto established the new world record for freediving in constant weight with -80 metres.
On 24 October, with the technical support of the Anteo ship of the Italian Navy, Pelizzari is the protagonist of a remarkable feat: -150 meters in no limits variable weight in a time of 2'57", a limit never before reached by man in freediving.
