A rhyming poem by Trilussa, born Carlo Alberto Camillo Salustri (Rome, October 26, 1871 – Rome, December 21, 1950), a famous Roman poet, handwritten by Trilussa himself on cardboard, with an original black-and-white photograph of Guglielmo Guasta and Trilussa in front of the wooden theater for the BARACCA DELLE FAVOLE (The Fairy Tale Theatre), which they conceived and inaugurated around 1926 but never operated due to the fascist regime's opposition to satirical theater.Just below the photo are the autographs of GUASTA and TRILUSSA. On the sides of the photo is the dedication TO MY DEAREST FRIEND SARTORIO WITH SINCERE AFFECTION - CHRISTMAS 1926. In the center of the card is the poem, "Look at the puppets on the stage - how important they take it: - look at the warrior with his dignified air. How well he fights, how he strikes! - He conquers everyone! He's terrible! But as soon as - the hand that moves him rests - the hero is enchanted and remains in a pose - that often makes you laugh or pity him - The same is man. Man is a puppet - who plays his part until the moment - who is moved by the hand of destiny - but as soon as the puppeteer tires of the moving puppet - good night, Jesus, for the puppet is dear! - Trilussa."Original, In excellent condition. Photo dimensions: 17x13 cm, cardboard: 25x30 cm(COA available upon request, for a fee)
