Badge dimensions: 37 × 27 mm
A Polish-American award for outstanding service, conferred by the Polish National Alliance (PNA)—the Polish National Union in the United States, one of the oldest and largest Polish-American organizations, founded in 1880.
The badge is shaped like a vertical shield. In the center is an eagle with outstretched wings; on its breast is an enameled, tripartite shield bearing the initials “PNA.” It bears the symbols of Poland, Lithuania, and Ruthenia: the White Eagle, the Lithuanian Pogoń, and St. Michael the Archangel. The emblem references the symbolism of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, used during the January Uprising.
At the bottom of the decoration is a ribbon bearing the English inscription “DISTINGUISHED SERVICE” — “for distinguished service.” The medal is suspended from a red-white-blue ribbon, referencing the colors of the United States.
The reverse is plain, with the inscription “GOLD FILLED” at the bottom, indicating that it is made of metal coated with a permanently bonded layer of gold.
