Spain / Mexico. 1701-1728 4 Reales Silver Ingot Inscription I E T R F A O J

This is a curious piece, with the weight of 13,76 Grams and its shape and design correspond perfectly with the 4 Reales struck under Spanish Colonial Mexico from 1701-1728 KM 40. However there are no signs of a strike or mint mark. Instead we find the inscription I E T R F A O J which in Latin transcribes to ''Iesus Est Totius Regni Fidelis Autor Omnium Justorum'' or ''Jesus is the faithful author of the whole kingdom and all the just'' (loosely translated). It is difficult to be definitive as to arrive with this data required piecing together several historical elements that are not availible on a numismatic level and thus always leaving room for doubt. However based on our experince with Spanish colonial coins and the extensive research performed we are confident further investigation and study will/would only confirm our anaysis and enhance the curiosity and desire for such a unique and previously unknown piece.
