Vaino Väljas (March 28, 1931 – January 16, 2024) was an Estonian politician and Soviet diplomat. He led the reform of the Estonian Communist Party and contributed to the restoration of Estonia's independence. From 1988 to 1990, he served as the First Secretary of the EKP, overseeing the adoption of the sovereignty declaration. Väljas also worked as a Soviet ambassador to Venezuela and Nicaragua. Johannes Undusk (September 10, 1918 – March 28, 1979) was a politician in the Estonian SSR. He served as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Tallinn City Soviet from March 27, 1961, to June 1971. During his tenure, passenger ferry service between Tallinn and Helsinki was launched in 1965. Johannes Käbin (born Ivan Käbin; September 24, 1905, Kalvi, Aseri Parish, Virumaa – October 26, 1999, Tallinn) was a statesman of the Estonian SSR. He served as the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Estonian Communist Party from 1950 to 1978 and as the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Estonian SSR from 1978 to 1983.
