Antoni CYGAN (b. 1964), Landscape, 2018

Studied at the Department of Graphic Design in Katowice of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Obtained his diploma in 1988, in the Graphic Design Studio of Prof. Tomasz Jura and in the Painting Studio of Prof. Andrzej S. Kowalski.
Since 1992, he has been working at his alma mater, currently leading the Drawing Studio for students in years II-V. In 2003, he was awarded a postdoctoral degree, and in 2013, the title of professor. He was twice elected rector of the university in the terms 2012-2016, 2016-2020, in the second term also serving as chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Art Universities.
He is the author of several solo exhibitions, including in Zabrze, Katowice, Gliwice, Lyon, Helsinki, London, Opava (Czech Republic). He has participated in many group exhibitions at home and abroad. Among others in Katowice, Krakow, Ronneby (Sweden), Hassel (Belgium), London ,Glasgow (Scotland).
He is the author of several Stations of the Cross cycles, in temples in Zabrze, Gliwice, Lichen and Suzuka (Japan).
He also designs interiors for churches (including a comprehensive interior design, altars and painting in St. Paul the Apostle Church in Zabrze, St. Urban Church in Paniówki, the Chapel of the House of Retired Priests in Katowice, the Cathedral of Christ the King in Katowice, the Chapel of the Silesian Higher Seminary in Katowice).
