Polish painter and printmaker, based in Warsaw. In 1975, he graduated from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, Faculty of Painting, in the studio of Prof. T. Dominik. In addition, he obtained a specialization in artistic textiles in the studio of Prof. W. Sadley. He won an award in a competition for an architectural and sculptural solution to the insurgent quarters of the Home Army "Zywiciel" Grouping at the Military Cemetery in Warsaw's Powazki Cemetery, as the author of the design for the monument, which was later realized as part of a larger design developed as part of a team under the direction of arch. Czesław Bielecki. He won first prize and honorable mentions in the "Autumn Four Seasons" painting competition in Szczecinek and an award in the Bolesław Biegas competition. He has designs and realizations of spatial forms and applied graphics. In the 1980s he served as chief visual artist of Bilgoraj. Since 2001, he has dealt exclusively with painting, which he treats as "a meta-language in expressing the relationship between nature - man - civilization." He has participated in many national and international exhibitions (including Paris, London, Verona, Milan). His works are in private collections around the world. He is an active member of ZPAP and the Creative Group "Symphony". In 2018 he was awarded the badge of honor of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage "Meritorious for Polish Culture". Jan Brodziak's work does not lend itself to easy analysis, as it is told in the language of impressions, and these are sometimes difficult to verbalize. - I do not invent what I create, but rely on intuition," confesses the artist. - I have a need to act, in this way and not another, so I sit down at the easel, and "this" something flows out of me. It makes me very happy, but also happens to be a kind of antidote to the reality I live in. My art is created and perceived through the senses, not reason. I don't know how to talk about it," the artist adds at the end.
