He is a drama actor and a painter. He practices these two fields of art with equal fondness until 1983, after which he concentrates exclusively on painting. He distinguishes three forms of exploration, but in each it is about painterly penetration of the human world.
In oil painting, which is very economical, even ascetic, man is most often shown in the face of his loneliness. The modern world, densified in all dimensions makes a great void in the structure of man, in it man becomes anonymous, frightened, lonely.
In painting on a paper base (tempera, gouache, watercolor, pastel), the artist deviates from ascetic formulations, both in the palette and in the story layer. Here, too, man is depicted impersonally, but in the face of certain elements, which are given to him for common existence with them. The bird is meant to symbolize the air, the fish the water, the tree the earth. These works, most often called BALLADS, are mostly created in Trzebuska, in the family home.
Since his exhibition debut, he has made the protagonist of his paintings a man, who, reduced to a sign like a chess piece, appears on the plane of successive compositions, not infrequently in a religious aspect. In his work one can find both the expressionist current, including the "icon" current, which is particularly close to him.
