August III of Saxony, 2/3 talar, 1735 FWóF, Dresden – rare
Obverse:
A bust in right-facing profile, clad in armor and draped in a cloak.
In the rim: D G FRID AUGUST REX POLONIARUM
Reverse:
A crown. Below the crown, two shields bearing the coats of arms of Poland, Lithuania, and the House of Saxony. Below the shields, the denomination 2/3, the initials FWóF (Fryderyk Wilhelm ó Feral—Master of the Dresden Mint), and a hook (the mint mark of the Dresden Mint).
On the rim, an inscription divided at the top by a crown: DUX SAX I C M A & W S R I ARCH & EL 1735
Condition: NGC AU55
A beautifully struck and well-preserved coin. Vivid relief. Beautiful detail. Luster and plenty of mint mirror finish. High NGC grade. This is the very piece that received the highest NGC AU55 grade, and it is the only piece with this grade. A beautiful and rare coin.
